Are you in the Philippines and looking for some DOTA 2 action next month? You’re in luck because the DOTA 2 All Star Weekend is happening this October. Maybe. Keep reading.
This event, organized by All Access Productions, is the first gaming and music festival in the esports scene, at least according to the ABS-CBN post. It will be held from October 13 to 15 at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
Here’s the kicker: part of the three-day event will be filmed for an upcoming esports “Hollywood film called Underdogs Uprising”; the film will feature the top four DOTA 2 professional teams fighting for supremacy. If you’re at the event, there’s a good chance your face will be in the feature film.
So far there are no listings on this “Hollywood film” on Imdb.com. In fact, there’s not much in terms of specifics from the news post and no headliners in sight like TNC Pro or Execration. All we know is that the event will feature the following:
- “A live DOTA 2 game that takes action on the main stage during the event”
- “International music and performances from local recording artists, dance crews, and DJs.”
- Sporting competitions such as “the Rising Stars Challenge, 1v1 Challenge, Man vs Machine, Pro-Am Challenge, and the DOTA 2 Celebrity Game.”
- A quote from one Moritz Zimmermann who is part of All Access Productions and also produced TI7 with over 21 million dollars awarded last August: “Manila is fast becoming a world-class destination for sports and entertainment, and we are very appreciative that the city is hosting the Dota 2 All Star festivities.”
We hope that more news will start cropping up about the event because there’s not much of a hard sell here apart from the Underdogs Rising cameo opportunity. If you’re within the country, keep yourself updated via All Access Production’s Facebook page; SPOUT 360 is currently inquiring with the organizers for more information.
