Malaysian player Tue “Ahfu” Soon Chuan swiped the Aegis from right under Russian team Virtus.Pro’s noses – flawlessly pulling off a very rare and risky move in DOTA 2’s largest annual tournament, The International 7.
His team, the Chinese squad LGD Forever Young, went up against Virtus.Pro. for the final BO3 series of Day 3 of The International 7 playoffs at Seattle’s KeyArena. They took Game 1 in their stride, beating the Russians by adopting a more aggressive stance right off the bat. But Virtus.Pro wasn’t about to back down, and rebounded in Game 2 – LGD Forever Young was in trouble.
And then Ahfu pulled off the near-impossible with his support hero Earth Spirit. Keep your eye on Roshan, the giant beast, and the VP players attacking him: just as Roshan dies, Ahfu blinks into the pit from the upper corner, snatches the Aegis, and rolls away before the stunned Russians can react.
The Aegis of the Immortal is a potentially game-changing item that brings the holder back to life after they die. It is pivotal for a team looking to swing a game in their favour, or planning to push into the enemy’s base. The Aegis is dropped on Roshan’s death, but regardless of who landed the killing blow, anyone – friend or foe – can pick it up.

Ahfu’s gutsy steal turned the tides of battle, cementing LGD’s 2-0 victory this series and securing his team a Top 3 finish. LGD Forever Young has been one of TI7’s biggest surprises. They have gone undefeated in this bracket and will take on Newbee tomorrow for a spot in the grand finals.
