The International 7 hype is in full swing right now. After all, the event’s direct invites have been sent. The teams that will be going for the August event are: OG, Virtus.Pro, Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Invictus Gaming, and Newbee.
Honestly, there are no surprises there. These teams have been the best all year and will be the favourites this year at The International 7. You can tune in to the Open Qualifiers from June 22 to 25 and the Regional Qualifiers from June 26 to 29 via Twitch or the DOTA 2 client
New to this International is the format; all 18 teams that are qualified will participate in a Round Robin group stage, divided into two groups of 9. The bottom two teams will be eliminated and the rest will move on to the Double Elimination Main Event at KeyArena. This differs from previous years where third place spots are contested in a wildcard round to find the best two teams out of four. The regions are the same as before: Europe, China, Southeast Asia, and Americas.
However, instead of having a third place slot for the Europe and Americas qualifier, Valve has now added a South America winner and a CIS region winner into the Americas and Europe region instead. Who will advance from our beloved SEA qualifiers? You can check out the invitees below:
