The first day of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang tournament in the Tropicana City Mall, Kuala Lumpur, was incredibly packed. Event organisers PlanUp and Moonton reported about 1,510 people showed up for the finals.
At 11am, large crowds gathered at the event to witness the tournament, with game developer Moonton giving away goodie bags to everyone who showed off their gamer ID. The bags included MSC keychains, lanyards, and also a code card with in-game items like Dust and Skin Fragments.
Due to technical issues, the tournament only managed to complete two Singaporean and two Malaysian Quarterfinals matches. There are three games left due for Day Two on Sunday, including the postponed Team Zhong Yi (忠義) and Team MeanThings match which is scheduled for 11am.
Here’s a recap of the intense matches that followed:
Team Axis Wins 2-0 Against Team Ministry Of Death
Team Axis took the match thanks to its superior macro play; team captain “HolyLance” was given the “OP” Karrie on both games and was used to devastating effect. Both game 1 and 2 ended in approximately 11 minutes.
Team Impunity Defeats Team Fallen 2-1
While tournament favourites Team Impunity took game 1, the team lost in game 2. Team Fallen drafted a team comp in the second game which consisted of 2 tanks -Johnson and Akai- which took the favourites by surprise.
Despite this, Team Impunity regained its composure in game three, and proceeded to stomp through the series 2-1 within 13 minutes.
