Singaporean team One Time Wonder has won the ASUS ROG Master Series CS:GO Singapore Qualifiers during the past weekend on September 9 at this year’s Singapore Toys, Games, & Comics Convention (STGCC). Along with the SG$5000 cash prize, they win a fully paid trip to Manila, the Philippines, to play in the regional qualifier.
Here’s a quick play-by-play:
- One Time Wonder beat out rivals Team Axylum in an epic 3-game series where they lost the first game but bounced back to take the next 2 games. The maps played were Mirage, Cobblestone, and Nuke; in that order.
- Mirage went the way of Axylum, where they came back from a 6 round deficit in the first half to eventually close out the game 16-12. One Time Wonder won Cobblestone in convincing fashion, ending the game with a score of 16-4. Axylum came off as inexperienced on the map and considering Cobble was One Time Wonder’s map pick, it seems that their strategic decision paid off here.
- The Nuke showdown was a real nail-biter. One Time wonder started out strong on the Counter-Terrorist side, ending the half with a 12-3 scoreline. However, Axylum fought back hard when it was their turn to play CT and took it with 15-14.
- With one round left that would decide if the game would go into overtime or end, it came down to a 1v1. One Time Wonder played the match perfectly whilst Axylum made a crucial mistake that cost them the game and the series.
But don’t just hear it from us; here are some of the highlights of the match:
Axylum’s Retla puts his team on his back on an eco round.
Here is a nice ninja defuse by One Time Wonder’s Dominic “dommy” Seo.
