EVOS Esports has a new DOTA 2 coach: Singapore’s very own Nicholas “xFreedom” Kelvin Ileto Lim.
The team announced that xFreedom would be the first coach to live together with the players in EVOS Esports’ gaming house. “Post TI7 [hasn’t] been kind for EVOS,” EVOS Esports CEO Ivan Yeo explained in the announcement. “Having a coach has been a goal that EVOS tried to accomplish within last 6 months. We’ve contacted numbers of names within the scene only to fail to acquire them as our coach.”
Much to their relief, xFreedom accepted their offer. “No words [can] express our excitement when he agreed to kickstart his coaching career with us,” Mr. Yeo said, promising that this move was “another step” in their road to glory.
In response, xFreedom said that he was “excited to coach EVOS DOTA 2”, noting that they had much potential to make it to the top in the SEA region. “Together we will make it happen,” he said.
This is xFreedom’s first time coaching a DOTA 2 team. Renowned for his support plays, he played for White Fries Gaming this year, but the team ultimately failed to qualify for The International 7. Most recently, he played for Team ABC at the ROG Masters DOTA 2 Singapore Qualifier in September.
xFreedom is best known for his appearances with Team Zenith in The International 2012 and 2013, pulling off some sick plays with his trademark hero Crystal Maiden during that year’s meta.
