Mark your calendars for October 14 and 15, fighting game fans in Southeast Asia. The Southeast Asia Major 2017 will be hosted in this year’s GameStart gaming expo in Suntec City Convention Centre, Singapore.
There will be three major tournaments featured in SEAM this year (via ESPN): the Capcom Pro Tour 2017 Asia Regional Finals, the Tekken World Tour Asia Pacific Regional Championships, and the Windjammers Asia Championships. Yes, there’s an Asian Windjammers scene; I’m just as shocked as you are.
The prize pool for SEAM 2017 is US$50,000 split between the three games, with the Capcom Pro Tour taking the lion’s share of US$30,000. Apart from Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and Windjammers, there will also be BlazBlue Central Fiction and Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 tournaments.
Pro gamers who will be attending SEAM include Team Razer’s Kun “Xian” Xian Ho, Red Bull’s Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi, Echo Fox’s Yusuke “Momochi” Momochi, Zowie’s Li-Wei “Oil King” Lin, Sian-He “Xiaobao” Jung, Echo Fox’s Jin Woo “Saint” Choi, Yamasa’s Nakayama “Nobi” Daichi, Kato “Yuu” Yuji, and Abe “Take” Takehiko.
There is currently no word on whether The King of Fighters XIV or the upcoming Marvel vs.Capcom Infinite will make an appearance in the event. Stay tuned to SPOUT 360 for more details about this upcoming fighting game fiesta.
