Rejoice, esports fighting game fans: Street Fighter V will get buffed up next year.
Capcom announced that the next version of Street Fighter V, subtitled Arcade Edition, will be out on January 16, 2018, and will be priced at US$39.99. This version will have all 28 characters from Season 1 and 2 (with one more character from Season 2 yet to be announced; it’s probably Zeku), Arcade Mode, Extra Battle Mode, a Gallery, and a redesigned user interface.
Each character in the game will also get a second V-Trigger. There are no details on this yet but this will change up a character’s playstyle indefinitely.
As you can see on the screenshot below, Arcade Mode will let you fight in a predetermined number of battles. The default is 8, though this Arcade Mode will feature different tiers and stages.
Extra Battle mode is a new series of time exclusive challenges; players use their Fight Money for the chance to receive a premium outfit for each month. Complete all four challenges each month to receive the special costume exclusive to this mode. Challenges include fighting golden-coloured Shadaloo soldiers and enemies in special alternate clothing.
For those who bought the game back in 2016, don’t worry: the arcade mode and V-Trigger additions will be available for free when it’s ready. You still have to buy the rest of the in-game content though, either through real money or in-game fight money.
On a related note, fans and Redditors are speculating on who Season 3’s characters are. Talk about whether Sagat will make his SFV debut or not on our Discord channel or Facebook place.
