Jamison Fawkes, better known as Junkrat, has finally blasted his way into the Nexus and is the newest hero for Heroes of the Storm. Armed with a set of explosive abilities, be prepared to send your enemies blasting off again!
Here’s his Hero Spotlight.
His strengths are his poke damage potential, his crowd control, and sustained damage abilities. However, he dies pretty quick and is not really the master of precision. He plays pretty much the same way as in Overwatch, explosions and all but with one exception: his alternate Heroic ability is nuts!
Rocket Ride makes Junkrat fly up high and then land to create an explosion that deals big damage to enemies within its blast radius, while also triggering his Total Mayhem ability. Basically, the payoff seems huge while also putting Junkrat in a safe spot; he returns no worse for wear at his team’s base after the ability is used.
This will probably be the Heroic ability of choice since there is a multitude of problems with RIP-Tire, which we’ll list down below.
- Junkrat is immobile as usual whilst casting the RIP-Tire and whilst it is travelling. This is acceptable in an FPS like Overwatch, but in a MOBA like HOTS, it is very easy to spot out Junkrat’s location and throw some abilities his way.
- The RIP-Tire can be destroyed easily. HOTS is a game that has a lot of Area of Effect abilities. A big reason why RIP-Tire is effective in Overwatch is that people need to aim at it to take it down, and it has a high movement speed to make that hard. In HOTS, the tire is probably too easy to take down to be effective.
We’ll definitely enjoy playing this trigger-happy, explosive maniac in the Nexus when he comes out in the near future. Stay tuned to SPOUT 360 for an in-depth guide on how to use this Australian anarchist in HOTS.
