It’s a sad day for the competitive Overwatch scene. Team Liquid announced that one of its top players and mainstays in the Overwatch pro scene, Dennis “INTERNETHULK” Hawelka, has passed away. He was 30 years old.
The reasons for his death have yet to be disclosed to the public, though it may possibly be due to tonsillitis complications.
INTERNETHULK is famous for his Zarya and Winston. He was a core of IDDQD, a dominant team in the early stages of professional Overwatch play. The roster was later signed to Team EnVyUs, and won APEX Season 1 and MLG Vegas 2016 with him on board.
He later moved on to coaching, and was one of the first few coaches in early Overwatch life.
To commemorate his memory, Blizzard Entertainment will be introducing the Dennis Hawelka Award in the upcoming Overwatch League series. The award will be presented at the end of each Overwatch League season to the player who has the most positive impact on the Overwatch community.
