The Mobile Esports Arena (MESA) has been running since March of this year. Its 100,000 php monthly prize pool attracted the best Hearthstone, Vainglory, and Clash Royale games from around the country. Last weekend MESA’s first ever Invitational tournament, which invited past winners from the monthly tournaments, into a grand clash of the best.
There was a major upset in the Clash Royale Invitational. Rammil Gandia “Dragon“ Baso beat out MESA veteran John Kenneth “Trainer Ken“ Pimentel in the Best-of-Five finals. The series was full of mind-games till the end were there respective decks were countered often. Dragon eventually pulled off the 3-2 win against Trainer Ken. Interestingly, Dragon qualified via the on-site wild card tournament and wasn’t invited like Trainer Ken.
In Vainglory, it was a dominating performance from Maj InstaGaming. They easily swept Generals Reborn 2-0 in the Finals to claim the meet.
Finally, for Hearthstone, two MESA veterans juked it out at the finals. WESG Champion Staz defeated Mr. Consistent “iAmTheTable” after a thrilling Best-of-Five affair that went the distance. The two interestingly both brought Mage, Priest, and Rogue into the Finals. But Staz came back in the latter stages of Game 5 to take it away. Staz beat out another tournament favorite in Chalk earlier in the game.
As MESA continues to spark the growth of mobile esports in the country, we’ll be sure to see even more tournaments from them down the line.
