Vainglorians, block these dates: the Vainglory World Championship 2017 will take place in Singapore from December 14 to 17. Best of all – the championship tickets are free!
The top 12 teams in the world will duke it out in the revamped Kallang Theatre for a grand prize of US$140,000 – a whopping US$20,000 higher than last year’s pool. And one of our own is among them: Team Impunity, who clinched a spot in the recent Summer 2017 SEA Championships, will represent Singapore at this historic tournament.
As all gamers and fans gear up to witness the exhilarating pinnacle of Vainglory’s esports year, SEMC will also globally unveil its much-anticipated 5v5 mode live from Singapore in an “epic showmatch” along with a major game update.
For loyal SEA followers of the mobile MOBA, Vainglory’s second championship is a long-awaited homecoming. The first Vainglory beta – then named Kindred – was released and tested in Singapore.
“When deciding where to crown the World Champion and celebrate the rebirth of our game,” said Super Evil Megacorp CEO Kristian Segerstrale, “we had to return to where it all began: The players in Singapore first in beta, and then widely Southeast Asia, embraced Vainglory before anyone else and paved the way for all the success that has followed. And as we embark on a new adventure with 5v5, Southeast Asia will once again be a central strategic and community focus.”
