After an impressive run in the Asian Qualifiers to qualify for DreamHack Masters Malmö 2017 (taking down Vici and Tyloo 2-1 in the Semifinals and the Finals), Singapore Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team Dreamscape bowed out of Group A of Dreamhack Malmö after an unfortunate draw of SK Gaming (global rank #1) in their first match of Dreamhack.
Drafting Mirage as the Map Pick for their first map against the Brazilian powerhouse (a favoured pick of SK Gaming), Dreamscape managed to execute on a few quick takes of the A Site on Mirage and even got the bomb down in multiple rounds on the Terrorist side. However, the Singaporean squad (rookies on the international stage) found themselves unable to hold the sites against the perfectly-coordinated retakes from the Brazilians.
When the Singaporeans switched to the Counter-Terrorist side, it was pretty much a repeat for Dreamscape. Despite getting a few frags on SK Gaming upon their entries, they were once again unable to stop the onslaught of the Brazilian squad.
In their elimination match against the loser of North vs. Cloud 9, Dreamscape had to go up against North America’s Cloud9 for a chance to keep their Malmö dreams alive. Once again, Mirage was the map which got through the draft and Cloud9 seemed to have Dreamscape’s number, on their Terrorist half, calling out their A pushes and even stacking 4 on A site, leaving a sole member to hold B.
And thus, despite their valiant effort, this concludes the first foray onto the international stage for Singapore’s B.O.O.T Dreamscape. What do you think about their performance? Talk about it on SPOUT 360’s Discord channel.
